Ever since I visited my sister Cassie in Seattle 4 years ago, I've kept it in the back of my mind. I wouldn't mind living there, I often thought. Back when I was determined to live anywhere but in the United States, that admission was notable. Back again, this time for a summer internship, I'm relieved that my memories haven't exaggerated the distinct and intriguing flavor of the city. So far. I mean, I'm only a week in, but the parts I've already explored have shown me a city full of layers (Literally - there's a ton of hills here).

My goal for the summer, which I'll talk about in a later blog post, is to live more intentionally. As part of that endeavor, I'm going to explore photography as I explore the city. I've included a snippet of my first week and a half below, but please check in to my photos for new updates in the coming weeks.

As always, thank you for sticking with me, and I hope that you're able to experience a bit of Seattle through these photos. But please by all means, don't let that hold you back from visiting yourself!

Summer in Seattle

You know the concept of a coffee snob? Someone who simply has to protest at the cheap quality brew of a commercial chain and has refined tastes in espresso beans.

Yeah, I never thought I would turn into someone so picky over my coffee, and yet this is who I've become.

Before trying out Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream, I didn't imagine that I could become an ice cream snob either, but their cookie dough & melted chocolate (Yes, you can get BOTH of those flavors in a SINGLE) made me realize that ice cream is not ice cream is not ice cream.

After the wonderful ice cream, a friend was kind enough to bring me up to this lookout spot, where Seattle's symbol is rocking it along the night skyline.

I suppose if I am to be a coffee snob, Seattle's a good city for it. This is actually a chai latte, but don't worry, I've gotten plenty of coffee too.

Walking through the streets, this sign was one of the first I saw, and then others like it popped up in more store windows as I made my way down. Seeing how businesses purposefully take a stand to welcome or to make it clear that they won't tolerate hatred really encouraged me. I couldn't get enough of these signs, so much so that I dedicated a section of my photography to it. Hopefully, I'll find many more like these to add. Now, we just need to find a way to make the cats more welcoming.

Hyped up on coffee and having read a batch of creepy stories, I chose the next natural course of action and decided to take a walk down an unknown path by myself through the woods. I wanted to turn back and kept peering into the foliage to see if someone would try to jump out at me.

My feet pushed forward as my faith struggled to keep up with them, and God taught me something on that walk about trusting in Him even though I didn't know what was ahead.

I hope you have enjoyed perusing through these photos. If you'd like to see more, please visit my photo page: Summer in Seattle.

Thank You and God bless!
